“I’ve always loved the craftsmanship of classic cars,” Sam says. “There’s something about them—their history, the design—that you just don’t get in modern vehicles. But the reality is, we can’t keep running them on petrol. That’s where RetroVolt comes in.”

At RetroVolt, Sam found the perfect fusion of her two passions: classic cars and cutting-edge technology. As an Electrical Vehicle Engineer, Sam’s role goes beyond just retrofitting electric motors into vintage frames. It’s about preserving the soul of each car while bringing it into the future.

“Here, we’re engineers, but also caretakers of history,” Sam explains. “Each car has its own personality. My job is to make sure we retain that character while making it sustainable for the road ahead.”

The challenge? Balancing tradition with innovation. “You have to respect the original design, but you also need to integrate modern systems that are reliable and eco-friendly. It’s like giving these classics a second life.”

Sam credits RetroVolt’s culture for allowing her to thrive in her role. “The environment here is all about collaboration. We all bring our ideas to the table, and there’s a huge sense of respect for every skill set—whether you’re a designer, an engineer, or a mechanic.”

Now, we’re doing full-scale conversions, pushing boundaries with new tech, and making these classics more powerful than they’ve ever been—without a drop of fuel.”

For Sam, the most rewarding part is seeing the look on a client’s face when they take their newly electrified classic out for the first spin. “There’s nothing like it. You’re giving them back their dream car, but better—and more sustainable than ever.”
